چکیده

The authors report that the poly 3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl P3HT nanogratings shaped by nanoimprint lithography show enhanced hole mobility and strong anisotropy of conductance due to nanoimprint-induced three-dimensional polymer chain alignment. Field effect transistors were fabricated using these nanogratings and device measurements show a hole mobility of 0.03 cm2 /V s along the grating direction, which is about 60 times higher than that of nonoptimized thin film transistors. Organic photovoltaic devices OPV were made using the P3HT nanograting with infiltration of 6,6 -phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester. Compared to similar bilayer and bulk heterojunction devices, the nanoimprinted OPV shows improved device performance. © 2010 American Vacuum Society. DOI: 10.1116/1.3501343

Nanoimprint of dehydrated PEDOT:PSS for organic photovoltaics.

We demonstrate the fabrication of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) nanogratings by a dehydration-assisted nanoimprint lithographic technique. Dehydration of PEDOT:PSS increases its cohesion to protect the nanostructures formed by nanoimprinting during demolding, resulting in the formation of high quality nanogratings of 60 nm in height, 70 nm in width and 70 n...

Effects of nanostructure geometry on nanoimprinted polymer photovoltaics.

We demonstrate the effects of nanostructure geometry on the nanoimprint induced poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) chain alignment and the performance of nanoimprinted photovoltaic devices. Out-of-plane and in-plane grazing incident X-ray diffraction techniques are employed to characterize the nanoimprint induced chain alignment in P3HT nanogratings with different widths, spacings and heigh...

Two-dimensional MoS2-assisted immediate aggregation of poly-3-hexylthiophene with high mobility.

Nanoscale morphology is of significance to the electronic properties of semiconducting polymers. Solution-processed poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) has been demonstrated as a promising active-layer material in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) and solar cells. Controlling the crystallinity of P3HT chains is critical for gaining high-performance devices. Here we demonstrated the immediate cryst...

Nano-confinement induced chain alignment in ordered P3HT nanostructures defined by nanoimprint lithography.

Control of polymer morphology and chain orientation is of great importance in organic solar cells and field effect transistors (OFETs). Here we report the use of nanoimprint lithography to fabricate large-area, high-density, and ordered nanostructures in conjugated polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene) or P3HT, and also to simultaneously control 3D chain alignment within these P3HT nanostructures. Out...

Nanomorphology-driven two-stage hole mobility in blend films of regioregular and regiorandom polythiophenes.

We report the nanomorphology-driven two-stage hole mobility in the blend films of regioregular and regiorandom poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) polymers of which regioregularity was 92.2% and 33.0%, respectively. The hole mobility of blend films was measured by employing a top-contact type organic field-effect transistor which has an aromatic polyimide gate insulating layer and silver source/drain...
